The Department of Early Education and Care helps child care programs create safe, healthy, and nurturing environments for children and families through technical assistance and support to programs; training, certification, and professional development for educators; engagement with community based organizations; and ongoing monitoring.
What choices do families have when deciding on child care?
In Massachusetts there are two main options for families seeking licensed child care:
- Family Child Care programs take place in an educator’s home and are small in size- typically 6 to 10 children and one or two educators.
- Center Based Care programs are larger in size and operate out of a non-residential location.
How do I find a child care program for my child?
EEC provides a Licensed Child Care Search tool where you can search by name, location, and commonly used transportation routes and view program contacts and details.
